Our Mission Statement
A non-profit agency founded in 1972, the Norma Cheney Kent Pastoral Counseling Center is a mission of the United Church of Christ in Abington and the Church Hill UMC in Norwell providing pastoral counseling services without regard of socio-economic, ethnic or religious backgrounds. We seek to optimize the mental and spiritual health in our community, enabling individuals and families who seek our help to become more the people God created them to be. By providing quality psychotherapy to adults, couples, children, families, and groups we enable them to grow personally and spiritually towards more meaningful and abundant lives.
Pastoral psychotherapy and counseling bring together the healing resources of faith, contemporary psychology, and the techniques of psychotherapy to help our clients find answers to life's more difficult challenges. Because we are concerned with a person's spiritual sensitivities, as well as the emotional and physical, our service is an alternative to a strictly psychological understanding of human needs and relationships. We are also a resource center offering consultation, preventive mental health education, and training in pastoral counseling to graduate students and interested local clergy.
